Dickinson Cameron oversaw the 3,790 square feet Fendi two-story Tenant Improvement (TI) project located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The scope of work included preparing structural elements for exterior façade radius windows and crafting an interior grand stairwell. A distinctive knife-edge cove ceiling, with recessed track lights and mono-point spotlights, was constructed and metal stud drywall framing was precisely built to accept Fendi’s finishes. Flooring featured Patagonia stone and resin-poured finishes on the first and second floors.
The project introduced an entirely new concept for Fendi, featuring stone palm panels and arch windows on the exterior two-story façade. The interior design incorporated bamboo wall covering, stainless steel shelving, and plaster walls behind millwork shelving. A unique steel stair carriage wrapped in wood treads and glass guard railings added a distinctive touch to the overall aesthetic.
The primary challenge revolved around coordinating and scheduling four different Italian millwork companies. This included staging their tools and materials, as well as accepting, offloading, and uncrating their materials. The complexity was further heightened by the need to seamlessly integrate the white box finishes with the distinctive Fendi finishes throughout the space.
DCC’s accurate and complete proposal, coupled with a deep understanding of the project’s proposed finished product, set the stage for a successful project. Their expertise, showcased as a leading General Contractor on the Royal Hawaiian approved contractors list, proved invaluable, having previously constructed the existing Fendi at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.
