Women in the construction and planning field share a unique experience – forging a career where they may be the only representative of women present. Exclusion, bias, and discrimination are a few examples of the challenges that arise.
However, in recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the need to increase the number of women in construction. More and more initiatives are being developed to make this happen. Some companies have started recruiting and training more women for their workforce so they can be involved in all aspects of construction work. Others are providing incentives and mentoring programs to encourage more women to enter this field.
On October 17th, DCC was incredibly excited to contribute to the effort in providing an opportunity for women specifically in the retail and restaurant building industry to find comradery, support, and connection. This community is about sharing solutions, friendships, and ideas and we are so honored to have hosted this special evening and look forward to future events. “We’ll always seize the chance to raise the profile of women working in the construction industry. The next generation of women in the workforce needs to know – there is a place for you here. Coming together and being able to proclaim that we are not only shattering stereotypes but also celebrating our accomplishments is incredible.”
