Dickinson Cameron completed the comprehensive interior renovation of Tiffany & CO’s flagship location at Miami Design District – dubbed the “Mini Landmark”. The project included creating a new opening in the second-floor slab to accommodate a central staircase and dumbwaiter. Additionally, all storefront openings were expanded to facilitate the installation of spacious jumbo glass windows. The boutique now features multiple VIP rooms, a private bar area, and a fully equipped commercial kitchen.
The team navigated more than 20 unique custom finishes, with every wall and ceiling on the sales floor receiving a distinctive treatment. Coordinating the final installation of millwork, flooring, and all custom finishes demanded meticulous sequencing, necessitating the operation of triple shifts around the clock. Additionally, navigating through Miami’s permit and inspection procedures proved to be a significant challenge, particularly given the tight schedule for the store’s opening.
The Miami location marks DCC’s second Tiffany & Co project utilizing their new design concept. The project required two project managers, two superintendents, and support from the Field Operations and Executive Team. It serves as a prime illustration of DCC’s robust support system for clients needing an extra level of management across logistics, submittals, and construction. Noteworthy project skills include the installation of a commercial kitchen within a retail boutique, the construction of a central staircase featuring specialty finishes, replacement of facade glazing, and achieving LEED Gold certification.
Acknowledging exceptional contributions, Sr. Project Manager, Paola Peguero, demonstrated remarkable leadership and patience throughout the project. Despite immense pressure to meet the store’s opening deadline, Paola successfully advocated for prioritizing the quality of the finished product. Continuously engaging with multiple stakeholders, she ensured seamless coordination and preparedness among teams.
Furthermore, Jay Reese, the project’s superintendent, deserves significant recognition for delivering a stunning store that can be considered a true work of art. Working in Miami, where subcontractors are known for their unreliability and motivational challenges, Jay consistently maintained a proactive approach, holding subcontractors accountable and ensuring they fulfilled their commitments. Jay’s tireless dedication on-site was instrumental in bringing this project to fruition, and despite the often unheralded nature of his role, his contribution is invaluable, deserving immense gratitude for steering the project across the finish line.
