Few names carry as much weight as Tiffany & Co. Recently, Dickinson Cameron had the honor of taking on a unique project that challenged our expertise and tested our capabilities. Nestled within the prestigious Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, California, this project exemplifies our commitment to excellence. Let’s delve into the details.
The venture marked a significant milestone for Dickinson Cameron. It was our first project for Tiffany & Co. since the brand became a part of the LVMH family. The store had undergone an extensive redesign, which included a unique curvy open layout. A full gut tenant improvement, the project involved the re-demise of three separate spaces into one larger open area, and a brand-new façade for the store. The project also demonstrated our expertise in a variety of areas, such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) compliance, navigating a completely new design concept, and coordinating a complex millwork package.
One notable aspect of the project was its timing. It commenced during the later stages of Tiffany & Co.’s brand redesign. Following the demolition phase, a pause was necessary to accommodate alterations in the design. As a result, we were required to configure the highly specialized curved walls on three separate occasions. Furthermore, due to the limited prior execution of this design, a significant portion of the project details had to be addressed through a design-build approach.
In addressing these changes, we relied on our experienced Field Operations Team and utilized our well-established relationships with subcontractors in the Bay Area. Brian Prescott, a member of our team, played a significant role in devising the layout for the curved walls. This involved the precise task of marking multiple arcs on the same wall, necessitating patience and an extensive investment of time to achieve the desired precision.
With the project operating 24/7 in its final stages, our dedicated field staff admirably rose to the occasion. This experience solidified our dedication to the well-being of our exceptional team members.
What truly set this project apart was the collaborative spirit between Dickinson Cameron and Tiffany & Co. It was a partnership built on patience and perseverance. Our ability to keep subcontractors aligned and focused during challenging times was key to ensuring the project’s success.
Stretching back to the year 2000, we have proudly partnered with this iconic brand on over 10 projects spanning the nation. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts with Tiffany & Co., and building on our legacy of delivering exceptional results in the world of retail construction.
